About Me

The Confident Silhouette was created as an outlet and a guide to build confidence within myself. I have struggled with depression and anxiety since I was 13 years old. At that age I was sexually assaulted by someone close to my family. It was very traumatizing and still, to this day, very difficult to deal with. A couple of years ago it became too much dealing with my depression, trauma and being a mother, so I decided to begin going to therapy. It was the best decision for me. I began letting everything I had held inside out to someone who didn’t judge me, who wanted to help me. She gave me tools and resources to work on managing my emotions, communications, and triggers. For example, meditation was one of them. I speak on the benefits of meditation.

I finally got tired of holding everything in and being alone, scared and letting my depression get in the way of living my life the way I want. I made the decision to step out and do something different and here it is The Confident Silhouette. This site will follow my journey as a mom of 4 dealing with depression and working to rebuild my confidence and self esteem. I’ll offer what I’ve learned, what has worked for me, how to build confidence, and how to change your mindset to take necessary risks to live the life you want.

I want black moms who feel lonely, forgotten, depressed, overwhelmed, and unsatisfied with their current life to feel empowered, inspired, heard, welcomed, and like they have a sister from another mother.
