How do you keep going when you’ve had enough? I have had this question run through my mind more times than I can count. I have felt more times than I can remember, why me? I felt tired; I had enough. How can I go on fighting when it hurts more to fight?
Life is hard right?
We tend to think that way. We think is it even worth it? What if it does not work out? We can be so hard on ourselves. I know for me I can be my worst critic, constantly feeling well, EVERYTHING. Then wishing I didn’t feel anything.
Have you ever felt this way?
So, how do you keep going when you’ve had enough? You may not like the answer because it seems too simple but here it goes: YOU JUST DO. I do not mean to yell but if you are like me sometimes you need it. You just have to keep going. If you are feeling like you cannot go on, it’s just too much, you hit a plateau. You need to climb back up the mountain to that high so you can rush down into a field of blessings.
Here is my advice to you if you need motivation to keep going:
- Find a new perspective
You need a mindset shift. You need to see your situation in a new light. For me I do a mental review. Why am I feeling this way? What triggered me? If it is something that keeps happening, then something needs to change. Either you or your environment.
- Find a sweet spot
Is there something, anything, that can make you feel good right now? I listen to music. Lately I have been writing a lot in my journal and on my blog and a little poetry just to get it out. I have managed to find time to read a chapter in a book. I read my horoscope and draw tarot cards. These are the sweet spots for me. Maybe they can be for you.
- Step away from what makes you sad
Sometimes our mind can get insane. We keep doing the same thing over and over that is hurting us. Why? Well, sometimes we feel like we deserve it. Nothing good is for me and this is all I got. That is not true. People with depression experience emotions in waves. We have ups and we have downs. In my down moment I feel so low, I do not want to fight to keep going. I, we, you must remember that this down time will pass, and you will get back up. Step back and meditate, practice being still.
- Research ways to keep you happy
There is so much information out there this will surely keep you busy. You will be busy looking at the bright side you will be motivated to get there. You will forget all about being sad. Remain positive so you can keep going when you’ve had enough. Read this blog post on why having a positive mindset is important.
- Stop comparing yourself to other people
Yes! I am guilty as well. You were made to be different from other people. Your journey is yours alone. Forget other people trying to rush you. Forget other people criticizing you. Forget other people telling you what you are doing is stupid, trying to tell you how to live your life. I really liked this video on how to stop caring what other people think. It is yours and you only get one (this time). Live it being happy with yourself. Imagine it. Feel it. What does it smell like? Taste like? Does it feel good? God will make a way.
Think of more ways you keep going when you feel like giving up. I can only offer what works for me, but maybe something different can work for you. We tend to get caught up in the he say she say and forget about the “I” say. What do you say over your life?
As always,
Be You Confidently
