With Valentine’s day quickly approaching, you will most likely be stuck in the house during this pandemic. Therefore, plan the perfect at home date night with these 7 cocktail recipes this Valentine’s day.
Valentine’s day is 2 days after bae’s birthday, so we usually do something extra such as take a trip out of state. We have been to California and Florida multiple times. I love the warm weather and beach. These trips be more for me than him LOL.
I don’t know about you but a nice drink after a long day helps me unwind and get things off my chest. My personal favorite is wine, strawberry margherita, and Grey Goose with cranberry. I also love a good sex on the beach. I am always open to try new cocktails, so I did some research on some of the most popular cocktails.
These cocktail recipes are perfect for date night, parties, and the day of love-Valentine’s day. Hope you two enjoy (*insert wink)
7 Cocktail Recipes You Must Try This Valentine's Day
1. Whiskey Sour- the perfect balance of an aromatic bourbon with a hint of lemon juice
Ingredients:
4 Tablespoons Bourbon Whiskey
2 tablespoon lemon juice
1 ½ tablespoon maple syrup or simple syrup
Orange peel and cocktail cherry for garnish
Directions:
Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake up with ice until cold. If you do not have a cocktail shaker, pour into a glass and stir until syrup dissolves. Serve over ice.
2. Margherita- there are so many variations to the classic margherita. You can add almost anything and it will still be good.
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons tequila blanco or reposado
2 tablespoons Cointreu or triple sec
1 ½ tablespoon fresh lime juice
Salt for the rim
Lime wedge for garnish
Directions:
Shake all ingredients in cocktail shaker with 4 ice cubes. Then run a lime wedge on edge of glass then dip in salt making sure to coat the outside only. Strain into glass.
Strawberry- add 1 ½ cup frozen strawberries and 1 tablespoon simple syrup with original ingredients into a blender with ice. Blend until fully combined
Jalapeno- add fresh jalapeno slices with or without the seeds to cocktail shaker.
Strawberry Margherita
3. Mojito: to muddle the mint leaves add them to the cocktail shaker or a bowl. Take a pastel and gently crush the leaves.
Ingredients:
3 Mint leaves muddled
2 tablespoon lime juice
1 tablespoon simple syrup
4 tablespoon white rum
½ cup soda water
Directions:
Add lime juice and syrup to cocktail shaker. Muddle mint leaves in bottom of cocktail shaker. Add rum and ice, shake until cold. Next strain into glass. Top with soda water. Finally garnish with additional mint leaves
4. Gin and Tonic
Ingredients:
4 tablespoons gin
8 tablespoons tonic water
Garnishes can include, lime wedge, juniper berries, mint leaves, herbs, or vegetables.
Directions:
Add lots of ice to a large cocktail or wine glass. Stir to chill glass. Drain any melted water. Pour gin in glass and add garnishes. Pour tonic water over a spoon into glass (this increases the bubbles). Stir once and serve.
5. Strawberry Frozen Daiquiri- can have two layers, a lime layer and a strawberry layer. The lime layer is optional.
Ingredients:
Lime layer
¼ cup best quality white or light rum
¼ cup lime juice
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
1 ½ cups ice cubes
Directions:
Blend together lime layer ingredients until smooth. Place in a bowl and put in freezer while making strawberry layer.
Strawberry layer
2 cups frozen strawberries
3 tablespoon maple syrup
¼ cup lime juice
¾ cup white or light rum
1 cup ice
Garnish with lime wheels
Directions:
Blend all ingredients until smooth. Pour into 4 glasses. Add lime layer, divided evenly between the glasses. Top with lime wheels.
6. Mimosa
Ingredients:
¼ cup fresh orange juice, chilled
½ cup Prosecco or any champagne
1 teaspoon Cointreu
Orange wedge for garnish
Directions:
Tilt the champagne flute and pour in Prosecco about 2/3 of glass. Top off with orange juice and a splash of Cointreu. Garnish with orange wedge.
7. Pina Colada-the name means “strained pineapples”. It was invented in 1954 by a bartender named Ramon “Monchito” Marrero in San Juan. It is a pool side favorite worldwide.
Coconut cream is made from chilling coconut milk and then skimming off the layer of cream that floats to the top. It is very thick and tastes like coconut but is not sweetened. It is typically sold in cans next to the coconut milk.
Cream of coconut is coconut cream with lots of sugar added. It is used to sweeten tropical drinks like a classic piña colada. Because it is used in drinks, it’s sold in handy squeeze bottles. Cream of coconut is easy to find online or at your local liquor store. A popular brand is Coco Real.
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups frozen pineapple
1 ½ cups ice
½ cup plus 2 tablespoon aged rum (or white rum)
4 tablespoons Cream of Coconut (not coconut cream)
½ cup pineapple juice
2 tablespoon lime juice
Garnish with cocktail cherry
Directions:
Blend frozen pineapples and ice until chunky. Add remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Garnish with cherry and cocktail umbrellas. So cute you can purchase umbrellas here.
Bonus! Tequila Sunrise Mimosa: I love me some tequila. Shots, shots, shots LOL. I thought these looked so pretty, I had to give it a try.
Ingredients:
2 oz tequila
1 bottle champagne
½ cup orange juice
Few splashes grenadine
Sugar for rimming glass
Orange wedges for rim and garnish
Directions:
Rim glasses with orange wedge and dip in sugar. Pour in 1 oz of tequila and top off halfway with champagne. Fill the rest of the glass with orange juice and a splash of grenadine. Garnish with orange wedge.
